Inspired by a Rebel

I discovered Jessica Mitford's writings in my young adulthood. I was enchanted because she thought so creatively.

For instance: the idea that we are the product of our own imagination, from Hons and Rebels:

“A thirteen-year-old is a kaleidoscope of different personalities, if not in most ways a mere figment of her own imagination. At that age, what and who you are depends largely on what book you happen to be reading at the moment.”

A new biography has led to many writers (journalists and bloggers) to revisit Mitford's work and analyze her influence. In The New Yorker, Rachel Syme commented that Hons and Rebels was "written in arch, inhalable prose...." In other words, it's fun to read."

Also for the same article, Syme said "Noisy and defiant, she [Mitford] had a need to find things out and to tell everyone what she'd found."... I'm the same way and that's why I have this blog.
